About

History: A large, sacred lake in the center of Govardhan town. It is believed Lord Krishna brought the holy river Ganga here through his mind (Mansi) so his foster parents wouldn't have to travel to Haridwar.

Pujas Performed: Snan (holy bath), Mansi Ganga Aarti at sunset.

Benefits of Puja: Bathing here is considered more purifying than bathing in the actual river Ganga, washing away all worldly sins.

Sevas: Deep Daan (floating lamps), Parikrama of the lake, and offering milk.

Deities: The lake itself is worshipped as the divine manifestation of Goddess Ganga.

Fact: The lake is enclosed by ancient, beautiful stone steps (ghats) built by Raja Man Singh of Amer.
